“Why does no one ask me if there was love in the ghetto? Why is no one interested?” asked Marek Edelman, a resistance fighter and leader of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, shortly before his death in 2009 In this film he answers this question: Goodness and beauty existed in the hell of the ghetto. And there was also love. Marek Edelman, activist, doctor and former commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, is interviewed by director Jolanta Dylewska about an aspect of life in the ghetto that is rarely discussed: love. Edelman shares stories from his memoir And There Was Love in the Ghetto and reflects on the redemptive nature of passion, romance and lust in one of history’s darkest hours. Filmmaker Agnieszka Holland lends her screenwriting talents to the sensual recreations directed by another legendary filmmaker, Andrzej Wajda. A captivating look into the lives of men and women who still hope, dream and hold on to each other as the world burns around them.

Discussion after the screening between the director of the Jewish Film Festival of Barcelona, Daniela Rosenfeld, and Marta Simó, researcher and university professor in intercultural education and immigration, conflict and mediation, sociology and global politics and religion.
