The AIDS Memorial Tapestry began in 1987 in the USA with the aim of making the immense human loss hidden behind the statistics visible. More than 70,000 individual tapestries, created in 40 countries by relatives and friends of people who have died as a result of AIDS, have been made over the years in order to reflect on the impact of the epidemic and the stigma and discrimination that many people living with HIV still suffer today.

The Tapestry arrived in our country in 1993 promoted by the NGO, Projecte dels NOMS. To commemorate these thirty years, from 3 to 15 October you can see a selection of the tapestries at El Born Centre for Culture and Memory.

On Tuesday, 3 October, there will be a presentation of the exhibition and a round table discussion moderated by the actress Tània Sarrias, with the participation of Mont Plans, Enric Majó, Nazario, Ferran Pujol and the singer Mone Teruel, who will perform “El teu NOM” accompanied by pianist Josep Antoni García Rami.
